When my grandma was at the hospital visiting my grandpa the other day she went downstairs to the cafeteria for some lunch. As she was in line, and it was her turn to pay, the cashier looked at her and said, "Yours is free." My grandma said, "Why?" (as the person in front of her had paid and so on), she was told cheerily, something along the lines of "just because". Later on during this trip downstairs a VA staff member asked how her husband was doing, told her she looked like she needed a hug, and gave her one!
It makes my heart smile that strangers can give her the random hugs that I can't give her right now.
