Nickerson Pasture Patch

Sunday Adventure @ 'The Nickerson's  Pasture Patch'!!!

Noah deep in thought (or heat exhaustion)...pretty sure just deep in thought...although it was pretty darn hot & sticky yesterday!

The boys & I stop our stroll through the wild flowers for a Kodak moment...awwwww! Such nice smiles
(:  Sam-8 & NoahBaker 4  :)

Madeline joins Noah for his deep-post-thinking...

Fabulous Ferguson Trio out on their Sunday afternoon adventure!

Sam (during supper last night- & then continuing after lunch today):

S-  "Mommy, am I what you would consider a country kid? I mean I really want to live out in the country.  Sell our house.  Live out in the middle of no-where.  We could plant our own food, Daddy & I could hunt for animals to eat, it would be awesome! You wouldn't have to go to work, we wouldn't have to go anywhere...Mommy you could HOME-SCHOOL us!!!"
A-  (ROARING laughter)
A- "Well, you certainly aren't a city kid."
S- "Why not, what do you mean?"
R-  (Chuckling)
A-  "Well...you like outside stuff, BB guns...
R-  "Sam you like camping, hiking, the outdoors, I suppose you could be considered a country kid"
S-  "But Mommy why couldn't you home-school us, and we could live out in the country killing and growing our own food; aw come on-it would be AWESOME!"
R-  (Chuckling)
A-  "Sam honey, I am not qualified to home-school you, sorry. So, nooooooooo. Not going to happen."
Mad- "I'm a country kid too!"
Noah- "Me too, I'm a country kid too!"
S- "Yes, we are a family of country people."
R- "All except for Mommy, she thinks she's a city-girl still"
A- "Yep!"

**Fast forward 24 hours**

S- "Alright Mommy, you said yesterday you are a 'city-girl' what exactly do you mean? You mean that you want to live in the city limits of Maryville, like across the street from the park so we can walk to the square whenever we want?"
A- "Well, yes and no."
S- "What exactly 'YES' do you mean...and why 'NO', no to what? What exactly do you mean?"
A- (Laughing) "Well, Sam, what specifically do you want an explanation of?
S- "Come ON, you know what I mean, why is daddy a country boy and why are you a city girl? You don't look like a city girl type to me."
A- (Eyebrow cocked) "And what exactly does a city girl 'type' look like Sam?"
S-"You, know. Like really skinny, really pretty, with really tall shoes,  like really tall shoes (looking down @ my bare feet) lots of bags, really busy all the time, big sunglasses, just...really busy."
A- "Well that is a pretty good description of one type of city girl. But there are lots of different kind of city girls though. That description fits about half of my friends here in Maryville.  For example, think of most of your friends mom's.  They are ALL skinny/pretty/carry lots of bags (okay perhaps some are diaper bags and or soccer/baseball/football bags-but you get where I'm going here) and busy! They don't live in a huge city.
S- "Good point. You still don't look like a city girl Mommy."
A- "Really? Because I think I fit your description perfectly."
S- "Hmmmm, now I guess YOU have a good point."
A- (Smiling) "Well then thanks Sam." (Thinking this was a pretty healthy conversation, nice way to end it).
S-  "Welcome Mommy. Hey-why is it important to you to be a 'city-girl' anyway?"
A- "Sigh. Because Sam, I love traffic jams, smog, & being able to go to 15 different stores within a 15 minute radius at any time day or night, & not having to allot an extra 15 minutes where ever you go b/c you don't run into anyone you know.  And in the city if I don't answer the phone, I don't have to wonder if whoever just called me will show up at my door anyway, simply because my car is in the driveway or the street.  I LIKE being able to see people different than me, I wish that you guys could see boys married to boys & girls married to girls on a routine basis, bums that live under the bridge, and Joe-Crack mumbling to himself as he passes by....
S- "That sounds...........HORRIBLE!"
A- "Exactly my point Sam!  You can practice mercy and compassion on a daily basis if you feel like it, and if not, there will always be an opportunity to either ignore Joe-Crack or listen to his ramblings as a reminder why drugs are very, very, very bad.  It's important to me that I give you guys an opportunity to see things that are different than you.  There are a lot of wonderful things about living in a big city as well, not just bad stuff.  It's all on your perspective.
S- "Well, I'm on Daddy's team, we are totally country boys and we are going to kill and cook our own food!"
A- "Sounds like a plan Sam."
S- "Can I have snack?"
A- (Nodding my head yes)
S-"Noah's peanut butter on a spoon looks pretty tasty."
A- "Would you like PB on a spoon Sam?"
S-That seems like the most country thing to eat so yes, PB on a spoon...but only until I can shoot a deer and then cook it over an open fire and eat it."

Karter!

Karter Grace, little sister of Jackson Dean, super special niece of Aunt Amy...I'm coming to see you, hold you, squeeze you, kiss you, and LOVE YOU!!!

So keep up those chubby cheeks and sweet smiles...I'll be there in no-time!  Noah Baker is very curious whether or not Jackson "HAS" to share his toys with Karter; like he "HAS" to share his toys with Madeline. "Ugh, sisters!"-Noah

Sunday Adventure

Sunday (River) Adventure!

We packed swimming suits just in case the kiddos wanted to dip their toes in the water; depending on where our travels took us and as long as the river wasn't too high.  So...we set off!

Pretty soon Sam found a great climbing spot...

Trying not to plummet to a rocky death ...

Madeline was SO careful with her apple throughout the entire journey...

We're getting there you guys...SO close!!!
A quick break- & Madeline enjoys her apple (she said it was the best tasting apple ever).

Rob & Noah Baker!

Madeline wearing my trusty hat from loooooong ago days of Ocean Shores Washington-it has shrunk over the years of salt water + the dryer...fits the kiddos perfectly now for our Sunday Adventures~
The boys venture in....
Sam, "Mommy come IN! You've got to! It's SO great!!!!"

As for me, well...Ewww. It took me awhile; but the water looked warm, not too gross, and it was pretty entertaining to watch the kiddos!  So I went for it...turns out it was a lot of fun!  We are thinking next time we need a canoe or maybe some tubes (or at the very least a beer tube for Rob most definitely)....

Just a typical Saturday...

Reason #587 why I am the luckiest Mommy ever:

Playing with Sheriff Baker Ferguson.
At 10:08am.
On a Saturday.
Instead of folding laundry.
Because, well...
he is awesome.

Big sister you can count on these things:

Becoming an Outdoors Woman

Amy- What's this?
Rob- (Evil smile) What?
Amy- HA! Very funny (eye roll).
Rob- What? It's a workshop all about becoming an outdoors woman.
Sam- Mommy it's TRUE! Daddy signed this piece of paper when we went camping
@ Indian Cave with Uncle Dan.
Rob- Yep. Someone will be calling you soon.
Amy- (Now looking at Sam, not wanting to break his heart with the realization that
Mommy doesn't 'do' camping. Well not without A/C and something other
than the ground to sleep on.) Sam honey, Daddy's teasing.
Rob- I'm not teasing (evil smile).
Amy- Rob Ferguson you CAN'T be serious? You're teasing right? Right....?
Rob- Nope.
Amy- OhhhhhhhKay....are you going to have hurt feelings when I don't do 'that'?
Rob- (Pretend sniffing) I guess not.
Amy- Seriously, it's 3 DAYS of Wilderness Woman camp?!?! WT_?! Noooooo.
Rob- We'll see.
Amy- We'll see my ass.
Rob- You aren't even going to put out an effort? (Sniff sniff sniff)
Amy- Sigh. Good grief!!!
Sam- Come on Mommy! It's the wilderness! The great outdoors! It's awesome!
Do it! You'll love it! It will be great!
Amy- We'll see boys. (BahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaHA!!!)

Noah Baker AKA Superman

Pretty sure Sam's Superman costume a few years back was the best purchase...EVER.

Fa la la laaaa

Bath...check. Brush teeth...check. Story....check. Tucked in...check. Good night guys, love you, see you in the morning! Except that Noah Baker has one last request; just a little Itsy Bitsy before he goes to sleep, just one more time.

When Sam was a baby & until somewhat recently, the song of choice always was Silent Night, I have no idea why. More than likely since it was the only song I knew all the words to, it's one of my favorite songs, and he was born right around the time I always get fired up with Christmas spirit!

Of course there are others, but these three songs are staples in this mommy's singing repertoire.  Now, all three kiddos know each song by heart.

Sam's song:

Silent Night

Silent night, holy night!

All is calm, all is bright.

Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child.

Holy infant so tender and mild,

Sleep in heavenly peace,

Sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night, holy night!

Shepherds quake at the sight.

Glories stream from heaven afar

Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia,

Christ the Savior is born!

Christ the Savior is born.

Silent night, holy night!

Son of God love's pure light.

Radiant beams from Thy holy face

With dawn of redeeming grace,

Jesus Lord, at Thy birth.

Jesus Lord, at Thy birth

Madeline's song:

Blackbird -Beatles

Blackbird singing in the dead of night

Take these broken wings and learn to fly

All your life

You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Black bird singing in the dead of night

Take these sunken eyes and learn to see

all your life

you were only waiting for this moment to be free

Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly

Into the light of the dark black night.

Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly

Into the light the dark black night.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night

Take these broken wings and learn to fly

All your life

You were only waiting for this moment to arise,

You were only waiting for this moment to arise,

You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Noah Baker's song:

The Itsy Bitsy Spider  (ALL the verses!)

The itsy bitsy spider

Climbed up the waterspout

Down came the rain

And washed the spider out

Out came the sun

And dried up all the rain

And the itsy bitsy spider

Climbed up the spout again

The itsy bitsy spider

Climbed up the kitchen wall

Swoosh! went the fan

And made the spider fall

Off went the fan

No longer did it blow

So the itsy bitsy spider

Back up the wall did go

The itsy bitsy spider

Climbed up the yellow pail

In came a mouse

And flicked her with his tail

Down fell the spider

The mouse ran out the door

Then the itsy bitsy spider

Climbed up the pail once more

The itsy bitsy spider

Climbed up the rockin' chair

Up jumped a cat

And knocked her in the air

Down plopped the cat

And when he was asleep

The itsy bitsy spider

Back up the chair did creep

The itsy bitsy spider

Climbed up the maple tree

She slipped on some dew

And landed next to me

Out came the sun

And when the tree was dry

The itsy bitsy spider

Gave it one more try

The itsy bitsy spider (My favorite verse, who knew Itsy Bitsy had such a marvelous outcome?!)

Climbed up without a stop

She spun a silky web

Right at the very top

She wove and she spun

And when her web was done

The itsy bitsy spider

Rested in the sun
